Description: TOAD Data Point is a database query application designed for users who need to access data, understand data relationships, and produce reports. This software has a Graphical User Interface (GUI) which provides drag-and-drop cross-platform queries and automatic table joins from any data source. TOAD Data Point also enables end-users to validate data and compare and synchronize schemas for improved report accuracy. Additionally, this technology enables scheduling of tasks to support project and application workflows.

There are two commercial versions of TOAD Data Point: Base and Professional. They are separately licensed and installed. This entry covers both editions; however, the Base Edition falls under an existing Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) and a commercial license would be required for the Professional Edition. The edition adopted by VA is the Base Edition.

This technology accesses and runs queries against traditional Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) data sources such as Oracle, MySQL, DB2, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, and any Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)-compliant platform; data stored in non-traditional sources such as Salesforce.com, SAP BusinessObjects and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE); as well as NoSQL sources such as Azure Table Services and DynamoDB. Additionally, the Professional Edition contains a Local Storage feature that allows users to store data locally in an embedded MySQL database. Data can be stored as a table or as a snapshot.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITECSO
