Description: NOAH is a software product and a mobile/tablet application developed by the Hearing Instrument Manufacturers` Software Association (HIMSA) to allow hearing care health care professionals to combine measurement and fitting modules from many different suppliers into one integrated system.

NOAH uses a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database to transmit and store data. The Microsoft SQL Server database can act as a centralized database which has the potential to interface with other VA systems which could allow for the data to be manipulated. The usage of a database with NOAH is optional, and the data can also be stored on a user`s local hard drive. It is unknown if the data stored on the database is encrypted; however, individual user logins and associated privileges are available.

Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
