Description: Protector Type 7825 is a software used in conjunction with Bruel & Kjaer sound level and noise dose meters to simulate and assess noise exposure in work environments. This software provides the ability to make comparisons between measured, calculated and permitted noise exposure values. Additionally, this software identifies high-exposure areas and jobs which require noise-reduction measures, and presents noise level data in both graphical and tabular formats.

Protector Type 7825 is a combination of spreadsheet and database routines tailored by Bruel & Kjaer for calculating personal noise exposure. The spreadsheet part is used to determine and present the results of noise exposure calculations. The database manages all the work point and personnel data belonging to a Protector project. A project is the complete collection of Protector files in which all personal noise exposure data belonging to one organization are stored. Data is stored in a project containing a hierarchical tree based on measurements and corporate organizations.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
