Description: Global Telehealth Services (GTS) VirtualHealth is a middleware software that provides patients video access to their providers. This product provides patients with clinical data collected through Bluetooth peripherals, including blood pressure and oxygen levels.

GTS VirtualHealth consists of a patient-side application (client) that can run on Windows, iOS, or Android and on any form factor to include phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. The application collects a patient`s vital information such as blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and weight from Bluetooth connected peripheral devices. That information is de-identified and encrypted, then forwarded via a Long Term Evolution (LTE) connection to Global Telehealth Services` web-based clinician portal currently running on Microsoft Azure. There, the data is reformatted into a patient record that can be viewed by an assigned clinician through the clinician portal, where data is stored on a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) server database and can be forwarded from there into the patient record in Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) record via a Health Level 7 (HL7) connection.

The technology can utilize a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database to store data.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITECSO

This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions. Please note that the implementation of mobile technology applications that operate on Mobile Operating Systems must be reviewed and authorized by the Mobile Technology and Endpoint Security Engineering Team: http://vaww.eie.va.gov/SysDesign/CS/MT/default.aspx.
