Description: SaTScan is software that analyzes spatial, temporal and space-time data using the spatial, temporal, or space-time scan statistics. The software is designed for any of the following interrelated purposes: to perform geographical surveillance of disease, to detect spatial or space-time disease clusters, and to see if they are statistically significant. The software can also test whether a disease is randomly distributed over space, over time or over space and time, evaluate the statistical significance of disease cluster alarms, and perform prospective real-time or time-periodic disease surveillance for the early detection of disease outbreaks.

Data is stored within the program itself and is provided as input by the user. No data is transmitted to any other computer and no database is utilized.
