Description: The ePROHealth Platform software system provides functionality designed to engage patients in direct, two-way communication and collaboration with their healthcare providers in the context of patient care and research applications. The ePROHealth Platform connects the provider or research user team directly with each enrolled patient. The provider team accesses the system through a configured application web portal.

For access and convenience, patients access the system on the web or using a standard telephone. Patients with an Internet-connected PC, may access the application web portal using any device browser. Patients may also receive calls from or call in to the system using any standard phone as the system integrates full-functionality interactive voice response (IVR) technology. The system synchronizes all web and phone interactions, leaving patients free to decide how they want to interface with the system each time they use it.

The ePROHealth Platform will be hosted in the VA Mobile Applications Environment (MAE) to support a range of Office and Research and Development (ORD) research projects and activities. This web-only configuration of the ePROHealth Platform will support the Veteran engagement and data-gathering objectives of the VIP-STAR evaluation.

This technology interfaces with Veteran Omni-Channel devices interfaces and it is packaged with its own database.

At the time of writing, VIP-STAR is running on a VA server in the MAE, however, there is no active website for this product.

This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions. Please note that the implementation of mobile technology applications that operate on Mobile Operating Systems must be reviewed and approved by the Mobile Technology and Endpoint Security Engineering Team: http://vaww.eie.va.gov/SysDesign/CS/MT/default.aspx.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITECSO
